Centre for Women and Children Development( CWCD) began with a few women in the Anti Natal Care(ANC), who were motivated to help others, along with the visionary who saw the need to help other women who were neglected and with poverty written all over their faces
CWCD engages in other services such as HCT, Community Development activities, Advocacy, Malaria and TB. Women programme involving weekly/monthly seminars at ANC Clinic, monthly welfare programs and family planning sessions where the target population are gathered together for this purpose.
CWCD has reached out to tens of million of Nigerians in 2 states; Ondo and Ekiti states within the past five years of existence, contributing to the Socio- Economic Development of women, youth and men in the community.
The weekly seminars are based on moral and educational topics to improving women’s happy relationship in their respective homes, also in subject relating to economic empowerment, skills acquisition (short time soap/ candle/ paint making/ tie & dye), activities that would promote and strengthen their financial capability to enhance their good living, alleviate suffering and poverty.
Family Life Education also was extended to secondary school encouraging total abstinence and delay of sexual debut till marriage. Abortion is totally prohibited. This program is tagged ’Abortion is not a solution but dissolution of life and destiny’ is a Behavioral Change Communication exercise (BCC) committed to teenagers. A catch them young approach to the truth of life.

CWCD as an active member of Civil Society Organization NGO’s working on HIV/AIDS enjoyed the opportunity as the first organization in Ondo state on PMTCT of HIV/AIDS em powered by USAID in Jos _ Plateau State in May 2007. Being an NGO working on Sexual Reproductive Health and having most of its activities centering on pregnant women formed the basis for this training thus making her the first indigenous organization to flag off the program on 29th of January 2008 in Akure Ondo state. This simple action actually invited UNICEF into Ondo State scale up the program into major health facilities in the 3 territorial District of Ondo state . The state has gained tremendous technical assistance from UNICEF in giving quality trainings on PMTCT and infant feeding options, sharing best practices and experiences of an international standard with selected health workers in the State.. From time to time CWCD worked hand in hand with relevant NGOs within the Coalition groups she belongs as well as with the Government of Ondo State.
